Let's share our love by coming together as a village and donating new underwear (in it's original package) to the Yolo Crisis Nursery for the toddlers who are receiving care from them. They are in desperate need of underwear sizes 4 & 6. Feel free to bring to class or drop off/mail to my house (address will be posted to Our Village page).
This is Asfala, mama to 3 year old Poppy! Asfala is our official #momcrush this week and we can’t get enough of her and that little firecracker Poppy. These two have been coming to Stroller Strides and Barre for almost a year now and Asfala even carves out a little time for herself at our Sunday Body Back drop ins🙌🏼. We are so grateful to have them in our village. Keep reading to learn more about her and her crew!
😴Whats your mom struggle right now? Sleep deprivation (still). Poppy’s never been a good sleeper and I can count on 2 hands the times she’s slept thru the night. ☕️What is filling your cup these days? Drinking Oat milk lattes from Temple with my new mom friends while wrangling our children. 👯♀️Tell us how you balance all the things.. My clean laundry stays in piles because Poppy and I are too busy having a dance party. I’ve given up cooking and my meals often resemble hers (but with a side of coffee). I am a stickler for a clean kitchen and Poppy loves to help wash and rinse... and then we mop the floor. 💪🏼What gives you strength for motherhood?
It’s definitely a combination of things. My husband is the best dad to our daughter. I love having mom friends who can commiserate with me over our current challenges with motherhood. Stroller strides is a highlight of our week. Poppy is always cheering me on to run faster, squat lower and...to hand her a snack. ☀️Favorite Fit4mom memory? After class one day we let the kids play in the sand area at the park. It was nice to take a pause and realize I didn’t have to hurry to the next activity/errand. I could just enjoy the sunshine and my conversations with my new mom friends company while watching our kids play in the sand. Sometimes pausing and being present in the moment is so special. 👩👧Favorite part about being a mom? Witnessing the evolution of Poppy. From her first smile... laugh... knock knock joke. My heart bursts with love for her on a daily basis.
This is Erin, mama to two sweet girls Elizabeth(3)and Emma(1) and wife to Dan. Erin has been with Fit4mom for a few years and has not only just attended classes but also taught them with Fit4mom Woodland! Having her in class is so fun and she always brings the good humor and keeps us laughing. We’re so glad and thankful to have her in this village. Read on to get to know her and why she is our #Momcrush this week.
❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos?
Before I left the workforce back in 2015, I was an elementary school art teacher for many years.
❤️Whats your mama struggle right now?
Right now my biggest challenge is my “threenager.” Oh, the attitude! I’m learning to be more patient as a mom and I want to raise a strong, independent little girl, but the struggle is real. ❤️What is filling your cup these days?
My husband and I have fallen into a pretty good parenting groove. It took us awhile, but it feels like we’ve finally found our Strides (no pun intended).
❤️Tell us how you balance all the things..
I’m so very lucky to have a super supportive friend and family group. Whenever I need help, need a sitter, or need to get away, they are there. I certainly could not balance it all without them. ❤️What gives you strength for motherhood?
Fit4Mom plays a big roll in giving me strength for this thing called motherhood. Stroller Strides is part of the routine, and my kids know it too. Yes, I get a great physical workout💪🏼, but it’s the friendships formed that really carry me throughout the rest of my day and week. Thank you ladies. ❤️Favorite Fit4mom memory
my favorite Fit4Mom memory was when I got my Stroller Strides Instructor certification (even instructed there for a bit). I formed an entire new appreciation for what Fit4Mom represents. It’s so much more than squats and strollers. It’s a movement; one I’m proud to be part of. ❤️Favorite part about being a mom
Obviously having two little mini-me’s is pretty cool. But really, my favorite part if being a mom is watching my daughters grow and become their own people. They are constantly surprising me with new things they didn’t know, or didn’t do yesterday
Meghan Covert Russell
Many of you know Meghan, she grew up here in Davis and is raising her two boys here with her husband Mike. A year ago at 34, Meghan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She has been so open to us with her story and wants to share more so that the rest of us can learn from her fight.

This is Robin! Mama to Alex(3.5) and Ben(5 months) and wife to to her wonderful hubby Brian. We met Robin a while back when she did Stroller Strides with then tiny Alex and we are so pumped to have her back again with her newest guy, Ben! Robin is a joy to have in class and always has the best attitude. You will hear her say in class “this is really hard!” with THE biggest smile on her face. We love that!! Such a champ in class and also a great friend to everyone there too. Keep reading to learn a little more about her.. ♥️What do you do for work now or before kiddos? I'm home with our kids for this chapter; I was a fundraiser in my previous life. ♥️Whats your mama struggle right now? Finding the balance between leading "the routine" for our family (in pursuit of the better sleep and happy kids that comes with it)--- and seizing the moment for big adventures and new fun. ♥️What is filling your cup these days? Oat milk lattes and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies at Mishkas..... more seriously though - the sense of community of having a new baby and being in it together with other mamas. Plus, being outside in this incredible autumn weather! ♥️Tell us how you balance all the things.. I don't. Help is good! ♥️What gives you #strengthformotherhood ? An anchor is my mom's parenting style and trying to mimic her gentleness, patience and kindness with children. She inspired such a sense of wonder (giant bubbles, cool nature, messy cooking projects, art and experiments) for my brother and me. I'm TRYING to rally to share an ounce of this with our kids. ♥️Favorite Fit4mom memory .... the warm welcome back to Stroller Strides after having my second child. ♥️Favorite part about being a mom... the heart swell of being a mom. Those moments of our kids playing together and laughing.
This is Lindsey!! Mama to Alida and Aurelia and wife to Blaise!
Lindsey has been with us since the beginning and is one of the founding “OGs”. And gangster is a great word to describe this chick. If you’ve seen her at Body Back you know exactly what Im talking about. She pushes herself and at the same time motivates everyone around her. Besides being a badass at BB she is also a constant support to everyone and is as real as they come. Keep reading to learn a little more about Lindsey.
❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos? Wrote and edited a fashion/lifestyle magazine in Monterey, as well as planning weddings and corporate events. I also won a major award "Best Front Desk Lady Ever," from the students at the school where I was an administrative assistant. Bedazzled, with Sharpie block lettering--it's pretty legit and reminds me that even if my kiddos don't think I'm cool, at some point some kids did. ❤️What's your mama struggle right now? Does anyone have any advice for breaking through the heavy metal music that seems to be raging inside my children's inner ears all day, and prevents them from listening? To anything. Ever. ❤️What is filling your cup these days? My girls are LOVING reading books. And over the weekend, we stumbled on our oldest reading books to our youngest. It was pretty magical. Also podcasts. To the creators of StoryNory, you are my actual heroes. Thank you. ❤️Favorite part about being a mom: Before kids, my husband and I lived a much more glamorous life. With sleep. So much sleep. And there was a large part of me that mourned the loss of those things when I became a mother. But they were quickly replaced by new things, like the absolutely hilarious things kids say and do, their boundless imaginations, the magic and awe surrounding childhood, and as an adult getting to re-live all of it. My husband recently convinced our 5-year-old daughter that there is a goose named Steven, who lives in our attic. Her response when she figured out what was going on: "Daddy, I just love your big imagination." I love that being a parent, expands my imagination in ways I never thought possible. We love you @lindseydouros
Meet Meghan, mama to Matt(5), Max(2.5), and Lola(naughty boglen terrier) and devoted wifey to her high school honey, Mike. Meghan was born and raised here in Davis and is not only an attorney but also recently became the Executive Director of @davisfarmtoschool Anyone going to the Village Feast this Saturday?? Meghan has been with Fit4mom for a couple of years and is currently carving out 8 weeks for her in our Body Back Transformation program. Meghan is an absolute inspiration to our entire team and village. We are SO glad you’re here Meghan. Keep reading to get to know this awesome lady a little better. *Whats your mama struggle right now? Going back to work after taking the summer off to spend quality time as a family has been a hard transition (although we have a few fun adventures planned coming up). Also, Max is taking his job as a 2 year old very seriously. I’m using my parenting mantra a lot — “he’s not giving me a hard time, he’s having a hard time.”
*What is filling your cup these days? Making an effort to make my health a priority, including getting back into to Body Back. Travel. And coffee. Always coffee. *Tell us how you balance all the things.. So so much help from family (both Mike and I grew up in Davis and have our parents here in town). *What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..: Knowing that I can do hard things. Knowing my body can do hard things. Knowing that I can move mountains ⛰
Wanting to make positive memories with my kids and to see them grow up into smart, resilient, loving young men.
Favorite part about being a mom: Witnessing a love for learning develop in my kids. Matt never ceases to amaze me with all the facts he know about animals and dinosaurs 🐆🦕 Also seeing how sweet these boys can be to each other💙
@mdcovert you’re so loved around here and we are beyond grateful you’re a part of this village!
I'm the Executive Director for the Down Syndrome Information Alliance. Right now it is a part-time gig, but I am full-time passionate for this community and so I'm dreaming BIG and wanting to grow this incredible organization. My daughter, June, is 8 years old and has Down syndrome. We adopted June from China because we know just how incredible that extra 21st chromosome can be. Down syndrome is a genetic abnormality, when three copies of the 21st chromosome are made at the very beginning of life. There is no known cause or factor in the development of Down syndrome and it happens within every ethnicity on earth. In America, about every 1 in 700 babies born will have Down syndrome. It is my belief that Down syndrome is a gift and not a burden and I seek to spread that message through my daughter and my work!
The Down Syndrome Information Alliance which serves 8 Northern California counties, empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community with resources and information. The Alliance seeks to provide healthcare professionals, educators, and businesses the tools to create a more inclusive and compassionate environment for people with ALL abilities.
The Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk brings together 1000 walkers of all abilities for one mile of hope, inspiration, and joy. October is Down Syndrome Awareness month, so join Allison and her team on Sunday, October 13th, at 9am in William Land Park for the most fun you can have walking one mile.
Your registration is a donation to the Down Syndrome Information Alliance and the funds collected will provide services and resources to hundreds of families and individuals with Down syndrome for a full year! We'd love for you to join the June Platoon, Allie's fundraising walk team. Even if you can't make the walk itself, all team donations to the Step Up Walk go directly to supporting families in our community. There are also opportunities to participate as a vendor, exhibitor, or via sponsorship!

Being diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34 led me to a bit of rethinking of my life's priorities, including my job as an education attorney (spoiler alert I'm returning to that in September). I had recently read Michelle Obama's book, Becoming, and when she left BigLaw she reached out to her network to help her find what was next for her. I thought if it worked for Michelle, it could work for me too! So I challenged myself to meet with 5 different people in my network, to tell them my story, and to see where it led me. My 5 people ranged from a former BigLaw attorney turned career counselor (shoutout to Fit4Mom Shannon Kahn), to other small business owners, and to a non-profit founder. It was through these meetings that led me to Davis Farm to School and being offered the position of Executive Director. It was a natural alignment of my interests in education, the Farmer's Market, and building community. Davis Farm to School is actually the educational component of the Davis Farmers Market, and supports garden-based education in schools, farm-field trips, fresh foods in school lunches and waste reduction.
Our main fundraiser for the year is the Village Feast, which is a partnership between DF2S and Les Dames D'Escoffier, Sacramento. Les Dames supports women in food, wine and agriculture by providing educational grants. The Village Feast is modeled after Le Grand Aïoli tradition of late-summer feasts of Provence, France, and features a family-style meal of locally sourced foods. If you're interested in attending, tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/villagefeast2019
This is beautiful, glowing mama is Amy! Amy has Ben(20 months) and is married to Chris. Amy, Chris and Ben are expecting a new baby boy due this December!!
We’re so lucky to have her in our AM Body Back classes and she is inspiring to watch especially as she approaches that third trimester. And her bump is the cutest💙. Read on to learn a little more about her ❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos?
I have been an RN for nearly 10 years and became a Nurse Practitioner about 4 years ago and love taking care of my patients!
❤️Whats your mama struggle right now?
Obsessing about my to do lists and getting things done once Ben goes to bed vs. relaxing with my hubby. Also MEAL prepping!
❤️Tell us how you balance all the things..
Exercise, breathing, perseverating about balance and then telling myself to snap out of it and remember how wonderful our life is! I am so lucky to have my mom near by in Davis…she has been our rock for adjusting to this whole parenting thing. ❤️What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..:
Realizing how hard it is to be a mom and that I am not the only one
❤️Favorite Fit4mom memory
Joining this awesome group of mamas just as I was in the early days of finding out I might be pregnant again! Also, "breaking" into the studio last class to get the weights ;)
❤️Favorite part about being a mom
The never-ending love and joy I get from staring at my son. Today I wanted to get mad at him for taking my lip moisturizer out of my drawer until he dipped his little finger in and put it on my lips…I melt every day over him.
Amy, you’re the best! Thank you for being a part of this village!! #MOMcrushMONDAY #ourvillage
This is Briedi mama to Kian(3.5) and Terran(1.5) were crushing on her this week and every week actually. She’s always so fun to have at both Strides and Body Back and if you want to see her get down just throw on Usher’s “Yeah”! Read on to get to know her a little bit.
❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos?
Diversity/intercultural educator. Now I work part-time at UC Davis.
❤️Whats your mama struggle right now?
I feel like everyone says this, but patience is the struggle for me right now. Sometimes I feel snippier than I want to be with my preschooler and toddler. On good days I can handle their extreme emotions, messes, challenges to authority, etc. with grace and love. Other times (not enough sleep, trying to get somewhere in a hurry, stress at work/home) I react too harshly. Trying to find the balance between loving, firm and patient. ❤️Tell us how you balance all the things..
I work part-time and have grandparent help weekly so that’s huge. I like being able to play with my kiddos a few whole days a week plus with hubs on the weekends/evenings. Then it’s rewarding to have a job I enjoy doing a few days a week too. Having a partner who shares an equal parenting load also really makes things go smoother! ❤️What gives you strength for motherhood?
I did a lot of soul-searching in my 20s and built up some inner strength and emotional resiliency. So when things get tough now I can usually tap into some inner calm reservoirs that I built over the years. Working out also helps me immensely! Plus my core group of solid friends completely boost me up and support me. It’s awesome to have mama friends I can call or text anytime to bounce some things off of or who will just listen.
❤️Favorite part about being a mom
All the cuddles I get! My kids are really affectionate and it melts my heart when the older one asks “mama, will you snuggle with me?” The little guy has the best hug: little arms hooked tightly around my neck, head in my shoulder and peaceful sighs in my ear. I love it when the snuggles are accompanied by “mama, I love you SO much,” or “I wuv woo!” (as the little one says)
We’re so grateful to have Briedi in our village! We love you @breidibee
This is Allison this weeks #MOMcrush. Allison joined us at the beginning of the summer and we have loved having her and her two girls Lily(2.5) and Zoe(1 today!!) at Stroller Strides. She is a local teacher and also on the board of a multicultural theater company…(SO COOL!) Read on and check out our stories to see what she loves about motherhood and where she gets her strength to keep being an awesome mama/wife/teacher day after day! ❤️Tell us how you balance all the things..
I'm so thankful that my college roommate, Asfala, told me about Stroller Strides. This is my first summer having two children and I was really worried about facing the entire day with them all summer while my husband was at work. Attending Stroller Strides gives me a sense of balance. I can focus on myself for an hour without the mom guilt of not being with the kids. Then we go to the playground or library. It makes the rest of the day go more smoothly and I enjoy the camaraderie of being with other moms. ❤️What gives you strength for motherhood?
I'm gaining physical strength through physical therapy for diastasis recti (abdominal separation caused by pregnancy). I couldn't figure out why my body felt so off and why sit-ups weren't helping my post-pregnancy belly pudge. I found out that I had a gap in my tummy muscles and I needed to do the exercise "dead bugs" to bring my abs back together. Now I can carry my kids longer with less back pain and I feel like I can begin to make the rest of my body stronger. ❤️What's your mama struggle right now? I take on too much and then I'm not as patient as I want to be with my kids. I'm trying to remember the quote from Empowered Mama, "Kids follow by example, not advice", especially when it comes to managing stress. ❤️Favorite part about being a mom
Sharing the best and most fun parts of my childhood with my children is my favorite part of being a mom because I love seeing the joy on their faces.
Thank you Allison for being a part of this crazy village we’re so glad you’re here.
This glowing brand new mama is Molly! Molly just gave birth to baby Beau earlier this month. We’ve loved having this sweet lady at our FIT4BABY classes right up to the end of her pregnancy. Way to go Molly! Read on to find out a little more about her..
❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos? I support development and alumni engagement for the College of Engineering at UC Davis.
❤️Whats your mama struggle right now? Lack of sleep and (what feels like) constant feedings! ♥️Tell us how you balance all the things. Haha! See my note above... Still figuring out what balance looks like with a new baby! So far, it includes naps and multi-tasking with my spare hand while breastfeeding!?
♥️What gives you #strengthformotherhood I'm so fortunate to have a supportive network -- my amazing husband and generous family, friends and colleagues nearby. As a new mom, the support, encouragement and great advice they've given me have meant everything! I meditate daily using an awesome mom-focused app called Expectful. And I can't wait to re-focus on my physical well-being by getting back to Fit4Mom and my yoga classes!
*Favorite part about being a mom: After 9+ months of kicking and hiccups in the womb, I just love finally getting to know this little kiddo! I can't wait to see who Beau grows up to be.
Welcome the the motherhood club, Molly! We’re so grateful to have you in this village!
Meet the beautiful Katie!! Mama to Max(4) and Margot(11 months) and wifey to the lucky James. You will most likely find Katie at one of our Body Back classes working hard and always with the most sincere smile and the most positive energy. We love having her in class and its the biggest treat when her and her crew(the CUTEST crew) roll up to Stroller Strides. We love you Katie!! Keep reading to get to know a little bit about her!!
👉🏼What do you do for work now or before kiddos? Until Max was one I worked as a budget and communications manager at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco. 👉🏼Whats your mama struggle right now? My struggle lately has definitely been figuring out how to best support/weather the emotional ups and downs of my four year old, while simultaneously watching every move of my almost one year old who is trying to eat and test everything out (totally doable )
👉🏼Tell us how you balance all the things.. I am doing a much better job this time around of making sure I get small breaks of me time either Fit4Mom classes, seeing close friends, or asking for help when I need it. Even an hour to do something for myself has helped me feel more energized and helped keep me going through the sleepless first year. Also, I love making lists to keep me organized, plus crossing things off my list is the best feeling! 👉🏼What gives you strength for motherhood?
Hands down support from other moms gives me strength for motherhood. I have learned so much from this village. The ability to laugh about the hard moments and celebrate each others parenting successes has made me a better mom. Taking time each night to enjoy a quiet house with two sleeping kids (happens 50-75% of the time) and think about my highs and lows for the day has helped me stay present and grateful for the little moments. ❤️favorite part about being a mom?
Watching Max and Margot discover something new or figure something out that is challenging for them. I love watching their faces light up and soaking up all the silliness and laughter they bring in to our lives.
Katie is #momgoals all day and we are so glad she found this village. #MOMcrushMonday
We are taking over #MOMcrushmonday to bring you this Mama, a Fit4Mom Davis #OG, the one & only Kristen! Although Kristen recently celebrated two years as a Fit4mom coach, she has worn many hats (cue 🦃) including: Playgroup Captain, Tuesday story time teller & currently Marketing Manager. She always wears a 😊, has a listening ear, an encouraging word, a delicious recipe to share, In ‘N Out ordering advice, & is up for trying anything new. While Kristen isn’t bringing you incredible workouts, she’s loving on her sweet family: hubby Adam (aka 🐰), Olivia 🎀 (6), & Barrett 🐻 (3). Read on to hear a little more about Kristen💕: *Tell us how you balance all the things: 🌼I don’t! haha! I think I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I just can't do it all & be sane. I try to just work my hardest at being a mom, friend, sister, daughter, coach & wife & have the most fun while doing it, if that means my house doesn't look like my favorite episode of fixer upper & my hair is unwashed that's okay, my people will still love me. *What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..: 🌼 I get my strength from my kids who just make me want to be better, oh & from burpees..lots of burpees. *Favorite thing to do as a family? 🌼My favorite thing is to just be the 4 of us in our backyard with the music playing, laughing, playing, eating, just being. No expectations just enjoying each others company. I can't get enough of that. *Favorite part about being a mom 🌼It's always changing but right now its seeing my daughter turn in to this little lady who can do most things for herself & who is kind to everyone she meets, shes pretty awesome & having a 3 year old son who is the epitome of a 3 year old boy which is new territory for me, he’s teaching me a lot, mostly patience.
Kristen, thank you for all that you do to help #ourvillage thrive! We love you! 😘
This is Molly, mama to Stanley, Weldon and Parker! To say that Molly plays a huge role in this village is an understatment, she’s been Striding since Parker was tiny and eventually made her way to our Body back program where she always so supportive of every other mama and inspires us with her hard work. Molly is a local pediatrician and is sweet enough to listen to ALL of our kids symptoms even if our kid isn’t one of her patients😂 and always gives the best advice. We’re so grateful for her! *Whats your mama struggle right now? ❤️Patience! I am working hard at being patient with all things that parenting entails: loudness, messes, big emotions... all of it. The struggle is real. *Tell us how you balance all the things..
❤️Balance is that elusive life goal, but I commit to doing a few things for me (Fit4Mom being key in that!). I’m lucky to work part time and have some days at home with my boys. *What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..:
❤️I share parenting these guys with a very supportive husband, and there is no way I could do it without him. Also I’m passionate about music (I sing in the Davis chorale) and that keeps me somewhat sane. My amazing Fit4Mom community keeps it real, and that is a amazing gift. Plus the physical strength that comes from these workouts is helpful for keeping up with my boys. *Favorite Fit4mom memory
❤️So many to choose from! Post strides nursing sessions under the trees at community park while chatting with friends, thanksgiving morning workouts with Kristen wearing a turkey hat, and an early morning body back workout under an eclipsed moon. *Favorite part about being a mom
❤️❤️The cuddles! And watching their little personalities develop.
@drmolls You are absolutely the best and we are so glad you chose this village. We love you!! #MOMcrushMonday #ourvillage
This is Dawn, mama to Samuel who will be 9 months old on Wednesday! Dawn is fairly new to #FIT4MOM but is already so loved here. At our Mothers Day class she won free month of classes and without hesitation handed it over to a fellow mama who was at her first class, she’s a total gem. Read on to get to know her a little better.. ❤️When did you start coming to strides and WHY?
I started going to stroller strides in March 2019. I needed to connect with moms and get out of the house with Samuel. Our walks were great but you start to go a little crazy with just the little kid all day, everyday. When my friend, Carlie, mentioned it I said “oh yeah but I’ll go when you do, I don’t want to do it alone”. The cool part is you never feel alone, so I really had nothing to worry about. ❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos?
I have the pleasure of helping new and old friends find a new homes and/or sell the one that no longer suits their needs. Samuel joins me on every adventure and sold his first house at 2 months old. I’m very thankful for my awesome clients and the option to bring my son with me. ❤️Whats your mama struggle right now?
My struggle is figuring out how to help my son while he’s teething. Sometimes he just can’t be consoled and that’s tough on any mama :( ❤️Tell us how you balance all the things..
The balance can be tricky, but I’ve found that making sure everything goes on my calendar is the key. Seeing it all and deciding what’s really important today. And of course, my son is right there with me, so it helps that I can feed him in the carrier and spend time with him while doing other things at the same time. ❤️Favorite part about being a mom?
The smile my little man shoots me is golden and his laugh is the best. I never knew I could love someone else this much❤️ Thank you Dawn for being a part of this crazy village! #MOMcrushmonday
This beautiful lady is Jennifer, mama to Sloane and Isla and proud wifey to Ben who is currently deployed. She is one tough cookie at body back classes and at home raising her girls. We’re totally mom crushing over here. Read on to get to know her a little better! ❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos? I’m a nurse practitioner at an OBGYN clinic. I love working in women’s health. ❤️Whats your mama struggle right now? My mama struggle is finding time for myself. I’m sure I’m not alone in this one. ❤️Tell us how you balance all the things.. I am learning to balance everything with the help from family and friends. Also, practicing patience - for both myself and my toddler. ❤️What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..: I find strength for motherhood when I am reminded of the great privilege it is to be a mom. ❤️Favorite part about being a mom. My favorite part of being a mom is watching my girls strengthen their adorable sisterly bond and develop their unique personalities.
Thank you for being a part of this Village, Jen!! We’re so grateful you’re here!
This is the lovely Tamara, mama to two little guys Finn(5) and Charlie(2.5) and wife to Kevin. All the instructors love to see Tamara walking into class because we know there won’t be a shortage of laughs and good times with her doing burpees next to you. She’s an incredible mama and she keeps it REAL, which is the most refreshing thing about her. We just love her! Tamara is in week 7 of Body Back Transformation and shes going to be taking over our IG stories later this week, so stay tuned for that, But, until then read on to get to know her a little better
❤️What do you do for work now or before kiddos? I was a legislative aide in the Minnesota Senate for a few years before having kids, and now I am a full time stay at home mama and aspiring freelance writer. ❤️Whats your mama struggle right now? Well, we’re in the middle of a move, so my current struggle is trying not to lose my mind while unpacking with two crazy kids underfoot. Generally, my main mama struggle is managing my expectations for what my kids are truly capable of - I am guilty of forgetting that their frustrating behavior is totally age appropriate and even healthy. Also, apparently, swearing - on the way home from dinner tonight both of my kids told me that I need to stop saying bad words. ❤️Tell us how you balance all the things... LOL. It’s honestly a struggle for me at this stage of my life. I’m working on letting go of some things (the need to keep a perfectly clean house at all times, time spent on my phone, time spent worrying and criticizing, for example), and making room in my life for other things (time to write, date nights, time in nature, one on one time with each of my kids, books, running, podcasts, etc.). ❤️What is your favorite part about being a mom?
To love and be loved so completely and purely is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced. And now I’m crying.
And we’re crying too!! Thank you @tamara_atzimba for being you and for being our #MOMcrushmonday.😘
You know this lady, our very own Christina! Christina just celebrated her two year anniversary as a Fit4mom Davis coach. She is a huge part of this #DREAMTEAM and we are so grateful for her. Not only does she bring you kick ass Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre and Body Back classes but she’s the mama behind many of our philanthropic efforts including our march for babies walk this Saturday. You know the holidays wouldnt be the holidays without her famous village cookie exchange🍪🍷🥂👯♀️ While she’s killing it at Fit4mom she’s also the most amazing mother and wife to her Menze men, Alex, Anthony(almost 7) and Pete(3). She answered a few questions for us so you could get to know her a little bit better! *Tell us how you balance all the things... Grace. A ton of grace. And my better half, for more reasons than I could fit in this space! *What gives you strength for motherhood? I get by with a little (lot!) help from my friends, fit4mom, faith, family...and a lot of F-ing COFFEE🤪 *Favorite part about being a mom... I feel that Motherhood is a constant lesson in humility, and also forces you to slow down and appreciate all the seemingly inconsequential things. Lately, I have loved watching Peter's personality really blossom, and also witnessing Anthony's enthusiasm for school. @christinamenze It’s impossible to put in to words how much we adore you and what a huge role you play in making his village what it is! We 💜you mama!!! #MOMcrushmomday
Every Monday we love to share and gush over one of our awesome members. This week we’re sharing this amazing mama to be, Sophie!! Sophie has been attending our Monday night FIT4BABY classes since February. Sophie always has a smile on her face and brings the best energy to class even at 18 weeks pregnant, we LOVE that. Keep reading to find out a little bit more about her..
🌸What is your favorite activity to do with your husband? I love hiking and travelling together. The first thing my husband Thomas bought that's baby-related is a hiking backpack for our little one so we can instill a love of nature in our little one and still do what brings us joy! 🍩What’s your pregnancy craving? Chocolate doughnuts....and anchovies with french bread (not all together...because now THAT would be weird!)
🌸Favorite thing to do to re-charge? These days, I'm really relishing in time spent with my girlfriends on hikes and lunch/dinner dates, and talking on the phone. Time with girlfriends is so important and I feel incredibly supported and empowered when I'm around them.
🌸Which two qualities/traits do you hope your little one inherits from you? From your partner? I hope my little one inherits my sense of humor and my husband's sense of curiosity and adventure.
🌸What do you love most about FIT4BABY? My biggest fear during pregnancy was that I would get out of shape and have to give up hiking and other activities that bring me joy and connect me with my partner and friends. By joining FIT4BABY I met so many amazing other moms-to-be who are strong, fun, and living their lives to the fullest up until they give birth. Emily has been such an inspiration and motivates me to keep moving and get strong which will help with pregnancy, labor, and recuperation afterwards. So far, I've been able to continue to hike, walk and run, and be my healthiest and best self. FIT4BABY creates a wonderful environment and I feel so much more confident and ready for motherhood! #MOMcrushMonday #ourvillage
This is Jessica and her crew, June(4.5), Wade(5mo) and Derek! Its a joy having Jessica and her kiddos in class, last week she made it to all FIVE Strides classes!! So impressive!! Read on to see how she balances life with a preschooler and an infant and what she loves about being a mom. How do you balance it all?
🌈Balance is so hard! One thing I’ve learned is that in order to be able to do the things that I enjoy doing, I've got to get the kiddos into it and excited about it too. From the big fun stuff like traveling and eating out, to the little stuff like trips to Trader Joe’s and doing dishes, I try to include them. It’s not a success story every day by any means, especially the aforementioned dishes. But, one of June’s favorite things to do is push a mini cart in TJs and get stickers or a lollipop, which is clutch because sometimes that’s the most “exciting” activity of the day! It also helps to have a husband who makes me breakfast and coffee in the morning and comes home and reads June books and puts her to bed! Where do you find your #strengthinmotherhood?
🌈As far as strength in motherhood, I’m trying to be more like my own mom, who passed away seven years ago. She’d laugh if the whip cream can got squirted all over the table and floor, or play music and have a spontaneous dance party just for the heck of it. I see her spirit in my sisters who are amazing moms and inspire me everyday. I’ve noticed on the days I take life a little less seriously and try to keep a smile on my face, my kids are so much happier too. Best part about being a mom?
🌈Nothing beats baby cuddles, but I’m always discovering new joys as June gets older and surprises me with her confidence and her interests. It melts my heart when she comes home from preschool with a picture she drew of me or a “Valentine” that says she loves her mom. Motherhood certainly isn’t easy, but knowing these little creatures depend on you as the center of their universe is a special feeling indeed! Thank you so much, Jessica for being you and for being a part of this Village!! We can’t get enough of you and your littles!! 😘😘😘 #MOMcrushMonday #realmom #ourvillage
This is Jess, one of Fit4mom Davis’s first members! She’s mama to Charlotte, 5, Madeleine, 3.5, and Josephine, 7 weeks and wifey to Clark. Jess has been nothing but a gift to this village for the last 3+ years. She has been a presence and a leader in all of our class formats and we’re so glad to have her back for her 8th session of Body Back!! Read on to see how she spins all the plates, where she gets that #strengthformotherhood and why she thinks being a mama is the absolute best😍
I am able to find balance in my life because I have an incredible support network that starts at home with my husband. I have also learned how to reach out for help and accept it. I embrace the parts of motherhood I enjoy, such as family outings to the park or art projects at home and outsource the ones I do not, like grocery shopping and housecleaning I now get in the form of HomeChef, Instacart and a housekeeper.
Fit4Mom gives me strength for motherhood. It provides all the necessary ingredients: friendships, physical strength, emotional support and stability; which in turn allows me to provide what my family needs, while presenting them with my happiest and best self.
My favorite part about being a mom is the language of love between us all that’s both unspoken and spoken. Unspoken from the way they wrap their little arms and legs around me as I carry them to bed. Spoken like when I hear Charlotte tell Maddie she loves her when they don’t know I’m listening on the baby monitor.
We love you @happy_mom_of_three and are so grateful to have you as a part of this village😘😘😘
Check out Jess' amazingly witty blog here.
Meet Caitlin!! Mom to Andi age 3 and Lyric 15 months and wife to Paul! We are always mom crushing on this lady and are so excited that she is joining our instructor team😍Caitlin will be teaching our Monday night Fit4Baby class, she will be such a gift to all our preggo mamas. Read on to find out how a little more about her..
💜Tell us how you balance all the things...“I would say I don’t balance all the things because I say no to a lot. I know what my priorities are and if it doesn’t fit with them it’s a no.”
💜What gives you strength for motherhood, could be physical, emotional, mental etc..“Paul, yoga, my own mom, handstands, very dark chocolate, prayer, stroller strides, and asking for help when I’m overwhelmed.”
💜Favorite part about being a mom...“That’s way too hard of a question! Holding my babies. Slowing down to enjoy the day and take in the world with them.”
@caitlinboulware we are so grateful for the huge role you play in this village and can’t wait to see the impact you make as an instructor. WE LOVE YOU!!
This is Christiana, mom to Connor(4), Carter(14 months) and wife to Kyle! We love her for the effortless way she balances motherhood, work and family and still manages to squeeze in some #moMEtime.
Her key to finding balance? “Coffee and naps, lots of naps if I can squeeze them in! Finding time in the day for myself, whether it’s working out with Fit4Mom, taking a shower with no interruptions or getting pampered. Also, making the most of my weekends for family time. I’m grateful to have a job that allows me 3 or 4 day weekends every week so we can have lots of mini getaways.” Well thats AMAZING!
And what gives her that#StrengthForMotherhood??
“Being surrounded by like minded women that are going through the same stage in life and having friends that push, encourage and support me to be the best version of myself, whether it be as a mom, wife or friend. It truly takes a village and I’m thankful to have found Fit4Mom and this village!”
But what makes motherhood so incredible is the tiny people we get to raise and Christiana’s favorite part is..
“The snuggles and when their cute little voices say I love you and you’re the best mommy in the world, melts my heart. But really, seeing the world through their eyes, their questioning and curiosity and their appreciation for things that we may take for granted. Being a mom has taught me to slow down and enjoy being in the moment.”
Ali Bloom and Carlee Ann Brown
For our last #MomcrushMonday duo edition we have Ali and Carlee Ann! Ali is mom to 4 of the sweetest kids and Carlee Ann just welcomed her first little cutie!! The fun part about these two is that they’re sisters!! There is something about going through motherhood with someone who has known you your whole life, what a special time for these two. We love seeing them at Strides together and the way they love on each others kids. So special!!
Thank you for finding this village Ali and Carlee Ann, we’re grateful for you!!
Kari Fisher and Carissa Bouwer
These two!! This is Carissa and Kari two awesome members of Fit4mom Davis. They met not even a year ago during our Spring 2018 session of Body Back. If you walked in to one of our 5:30 am classes you will see them sweating it up and chatting like they’ve known each other forever. Being attorneys and moms, they share many experiences and just get eachother. Their endless support for one another is beautiful. We’re so lucky to have you two #bossmoms in this village and are pretty proud that we had a little hand in bringing you two together. #realmoms#ourvillage
Amanda Ryan and Anais Foley-Kennedy
A friendship brought together by motherhood is something special. If there is ever a time in your life when you need someone who understands exactly what your going through it is when you become a mom. Just ask Anais and Amanda, they first met at a prenatal yoga class in 2015 as soon as they began to chat and laugh they new they’d be good friends. Once Lincoln and Jackson(both 2.5) entered the world they knew their boys would be good friends too. When both mamas needed a night off a few months after having the boys, they knew who to call. A night of wine, new mama commiserating and a lot of laughs were exactly what they both needed. When we asked Anais what she thought made Amanda a great mom she said..”Grace. Everything Amanda does, in each stage of motherhood, she handles with grace, patience & guides her kiddos growth. I barely knew you pre-motherhood but suspect you have handled much of life’s curveballs with said grace & it has allowed you to be a great pillar to your boys.” Amanda on Ana.. “Ana makes life fun! She is a wonderful wife and mother. Ana is loving, compassionate and patient. She cares for everyone around her and doesn’t judge. She is a cultured beauty who exposes Jackson to so many adventures and experiences. One can tell she has been raised with wonderful values and is rearing her little to exude those exact traits.” Two incredibly beautiful souls who are helping each other thrive in Motherhood. We’re so grateful to have them as a part of this village.
Elise Cobb and Christina Plesha
Throughout the month of February we’re focusing on a little mama love and spotlighting a pair of #FIT4MOMbesties each week.
Of course we had to include Christina and Elise, these two met at a playdate 4+ years ago and the rest is history. If you catch these two at Friday Strides they will 100% be doing the wrong thing because they’re too busy trying to catch up on the week while their kiddos are fastened tight in their strollers, many times at the dismay of that days instructor😂🤪These two can count on each other for anything, including friendly reminders of when your kids birthday is, just ask Valerie😬😂When Elise was asked what made Christina a great friend she said, “Christina is a great friend (slash wifey) because she knows how to listen when I need to vent and we can text each other constantly throughout the day about anything and everything. We can recite quotes from friends together and relive our glory days of competitive soccer but most importantly she pushes me to be the best version of myself. She will drop everything for you if you need her and she’s just a beautiful person to go through motherhood with.” Christina on Elise, “What makes Elise a great friend- she is thoughtful, fun, and always there for me and never judges me. She understands and loves me for who I am.” These two epitomize strength in motherhood, they know that to survive this mama game we need other mamas who always have our back. We’re so happy that this chatty pair and their kiddos are a part of this village. Thank you ladies for being awesome moms and friends😘
It's Monday again so that means we want you to meet another one of our awesome mamas. This is Carlie and that awesome little lady on the back of the bike is 2 year old(almost!) Arya! Carlie and Arya have been coming to Stroller Strides since February of last year. Carlie was the winner of our September attendance challenge and only missed 1 class all month!! Read on to see why we adore her so much and why she’s our #MOMcrushMonday mama! 💜What’s your mom hack? Having snacks, water, clean clothes, and diapers stashed everywhere (car, stroller, purse, diaper bag). What was the one thing you said you’d never do as a parent but well, life? Definitely TV. I was strictly no screen time, but when it comes to keeping a sick or injured toddler in one place for more than a minute, nothing works quite as well as Moana. 💜What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting? Talking. All of a sudden she’s babbling away and saying so many new words all at once. 💜How do you get your MomMEtime? I’m so grateful for a husband that recognizes the importance of ‘me’ time. He does an awesome job taking her for walks and running errands to give me some time to myself. 💜Fit4mom class of choice? Stroller Strides! 💜Your kiddos favorite song at class? Wheels on the bus. 💜Give one piece of advice to Pre mama Carlie: Be patient, because everything only lasts for so long. Those super hard phases and frustrating days all end eventually, and there will be plenty of good days to balance it out. Easier said than done! 💜Why is fitness important to you? During pregnancy and nursing you have to watch what you eat, drink, what medications you take, etc. Always being mindful of your body so it can take care of someone else. When that was all done, getting back into fitness was something that I was able to do for myself and my body that was just for me. 💜Favorite part of being a mom? The hugs first thing in the morning and right before bed are always the best.
#allthefeels Thank you, Carlie for being you and for being a part of this crazy Village😘
This is the beautiful Jill, mom to Eleanor(4) and Sarah(2). Jill joined Fit4mom back in the summer of 2017 and has been a regular at our Body Back classes ever since. We love having Jill at class because she’s not only working the hardest in the room but also has the biggest smile and best attitude. Keep reading to find out a little more about her... 💜What’s your mom hack? If my kids can do a task themselves, I don't do it for them. It's hard to relinquish control, but it pays off!
💜What was the one thing you said you’d never do as a parent but well, life? I bribe them WAY more than I would like to admit. 💜What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting? They play together and sometimes they even get along! I love eavesdropping on their sweet conversations.
💜How do you get your MomMEtime? I am really lucky to have a job that I love working as a healthcare attorney. 💜Favorite song to sweat to? "On the Floor" - anything with J. Lo and ft. Pitbull.
💜Fit4mom class of choice? The harder the Body Back class the better. I love when it's so difficult that we all start laughing. It really captures the feeling of being a mom!
💜Favorite Body Back move? Push-ups 💪🏼
💜Girl mom prob? Glitter everywhere.
💜Greatest gift your kids have given you? Their trust. I know that as long as they trust me, I'm doing things right.
💜Give one piece of advice to Pre mama Jill Relax! Your life is so chill.
💜Why is fitness important to you? I want my kids to be kind and healthy human beings so it's up to me to lead by example.
💜Favorite part of being a mom? The moments of silliness. I wouldn't have those moments without my girls.
This is Maria, mom to Noah(almost 3) and 37 weeks pregnant with baby #2!! Maria has been a member of Fit4mom Davis since the spring of 2016 and just this past year she made the jump that we were all waiting for and began teaching Stroller Strides and our newest program FIT4BABY. Maria’s classes are challenging, so fun and give you that boost you need on those rough Monday mornings. Her teaching style is so approachable and sincere making her her classes so welcoming and inclusive. Even at 9 months pregnant she still manages to bring the energy and fire every Monday morning #supermom!
Read on to find out a little more about instructor Maria.. ❤️What do you love about teaching Fit4mom classes?
I love connecting with other moms and sharing one of the things that I love the most that is working out. Moving my body makes me feel alive! ❤️What is your mom hack?
Right now, letting him sleep with me so we both can nap!
❤️What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting?
He is on his way to be potty trained, but the most sweet thing is that Noah is finally speaking both English and Spanish at the same time, and that just makes my heart melt!
❤️How do you get your MomMEtime?
Doing yoga every morning or writing before everyone is up.
❤️Current preggo craving? Thought that after Christmas I was done with sweets, but cookies and milk chocolate are still at the top of my list.
❤️Greatest gift your kids have given you?
Noah -and the baby already- teach me that I cannot control anything. They are a constant reminder that life is a miracle I need to be grateful for it.
❤️Give one piece of advice to Pre mom Maria
Let it goooooo!!!! I wish we could enjoy more than worry. We spend sooo much time worrying and trying to have and do things “right” that we forget to enjoy this precious time of their life
❤️Why is fitness important to you?
It’s my therapy!! It just makes me very happy!
❤️Favorite part of being a mom?
Learning how to share my life, my body, and myself with someone else.
Meet Nora! Mama to beautiful Eva(almost 1) and two crazy yellow labs. Nora and Eva have been coming to Strides since Eva was 6 weeks old! Read on to get to know her a bit..
What’s your mom hack?
A few weeks ago Allie said “lowering your cleanliness standards” and that really spoke to me. 🙌 Also, lists! I make a lot of lists. -What was the one thing you said you’d never do as a parent but well, life?
Pacify my kid with food. I did not understand the power of snacks. -What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting?
She’s cruising around the house with her little walker and I think she’ll be walking any day.
-Favorite song to sweat to?
Love me some Cardi and Weezy -Fit4mom class of choice?
Stroller Strides! Especially now that Eva is old enough to really enjoy the singing, play groups, making friends etc.
-Your kiddos favorite song at class?
-Girl mom prob?
Buying way too many cute bows/headbands/girlie accessories that she won’t wear for more than a minute 😂
-Greatest gift your kids have given you?
A far greater sense of purpose in my life.
-Give one piece of advice to Pre mom Nora
I think pre-mom me was a little obsessive about planning my life to a T. But life is unpredictable and there are so many things out of our control, so just embrace the wild ride and hold on tightly to your loved ones. -Why is fitness important to you?
One of my life goals is to live long enough to be a grandma. I didn’t get to meet my maternal grandma and my mom passed away before Eva was born, so it’s important to me to stay as healthy as I can to try to reach that goal. It also puts me in a much better mood!
We 100% agree! Thank you, Nora for being a part of this village and for always bringing that bright smile to class😘
Meet Michele Miller, mom to Willa! Michele is one of our founding Fit4baby Mamas and is expecting #2 in 2019!! She has one unbelievable birth story with #1 so we thought we’d let her give you a little Christmas Eve bedtime story. Enjoy!!! .
Alone in an Uber, I headed to the emergency room while my water continued to break on a stranger’s backseat. Yes, this is my real birth story, and I did lay down a towel before I sat in the seat. I was 37 weeks pregnant, living in San Francisco with my husband Kevin. Our dear friend was getting married so I urged Kevin to fly down to San Diego for a 36-hour trip. Just earlier that morning my OBGYN had instructed me that the department would not check dilation at 37 weeks. I had dropped Kevin off at the airport, worked a full day from home, did a prenatal yoga class, walked to the market and back (2-hour walk), and watched natural birthing videos. Later that night at 1:00 am, I jumped out of bed to my water breaking. After googling water breaking I determined that I wasn't losing bladder control, but starting labor. After calling Kevin, and my mother in Walnut Creek, the contractions started. They were coming every minute and lasting about a minute. Feeling helpless in San Diego, Kevin instructed me to call an Uber and head straight to my hospital. With super painful contractions I was only able to call the Uber and dress myself. Hospital bag packed? Of course it wasn’t... As I got into the Uber, my water continued to break. The cigarette smoking driver asked me if I’d prefer he stopped. I told him to help himself and head to the hospital, no more talking. Needless to say my mom arrived from Walnut Creek just in time for the birth of Willa Jean at 4:15 am the same day. My husband missed the birth, although saw some footage via FaceTime. Now that I am six months pregnant you can bet my husband is sticking to me like glue . Since my first labor was under four hours, I am crossing my fingers that there won’t be a homebirth.
Merry Christmas, Peace on Earth, One Love
Meet Shannon, mom to Theo and Sam!! Shannon started Strides after Sam was born while on maternity leave, a year after being back at work she found out about Body Back and never looked back. Her quick wit and hard working mentality is a breath of fresh air at class even at 5:30 in the morning🤪. Read on to get to know her a bit!
❤️What’s your mom hack? Daniel Tiger. Both my kids find it incredibly soothing. Sometimes my husband and I shake our heads at those songs but it’s some kind of kid magic in our house 🤷♀️
❤️What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting? My boys are starting to really make each other laugh (when they’re not fighting) and it’s the best!
❤️How do you get your MomMEtime? Running, Bodyback, time with friends, reading and listening to podcasts.
Fit4mom class of choice? 5:30am BodyBack. It sounded insane to me when I first signed up but it’s the best way to start the day and the only way I’ve found to consistently get those workouts in. ❤️Boy mom prob? So.much.wrestling.
❤️Greatest gift your kids have given you? The fact that I can make them feel safe and loved in a way no one else can. It can be so draining but can also make me feel like a superhero. ❤️Give one piece of advice to Pre mom Shannon..
You can’t focus on everything, so pick the things you care about most and let the rest go. ❤️Why is fitness important to you? It makes me feel good—strong and confident. And I want to be able to keep up with my kids (who never stop moving). Thank you @smkahn414 for being a part of this village, we❤️you!#momcrushmonday #realmom #ourvillage
This amazing lady is Allie, she is one of our OG founding mamas and has been a HUGE part of this village since the beginning. She’s mom to Rowan(5), Liam(3) and just last month she got to travel to China to adopt their daughter June(7)!!! Amazing!! Keep reading to find out a little more about her and her crew!
🌸What’s your mom hack?
Lowering my standards of cleanliness.
🌸What was the one thing you said you’d never do as a parent but well, life? I thought I’d never be the mom that hands off her kids to her husband the second he gets home. I thought I would always enjoy my time with my precious little angels from morning to night. But some tough days... I hear Rob pull up in the drive way and I’m running out the door, ✌🏼out tiny tyrants!
🌸What’s an exciting milestone your little is hitting? We are experiencing milestones in new and exciting ways with June. Every teeny tiny developmental milestone is a huge celebration and a blessing!
🌸Favorite song to sweat to? My ️ ❤️Ludacris but my 🍑says Beyoncé. I also love that my phone just autocorrected Beyoncé to include the ’ over the e. Steve Jobs just gets me.
🌸Fit4mom class of choice? ALL. THE. CLASSES.
🌸Greatest gift your kids have given you? Joy. There is an indescribable joy that, I think, only parents experience while watching their kids learn, grow, laugh, and discover. It is truly a remarkable gift.
🌸Give one piece of advice to Pre mom Allie. Growing up, my sister’s family famous malapropism was, “Patience is a vacation” in stead of “Patience is a virtue”. While patience may be a virtue, it truly is a vacation when it comes to dealing with your children. The more patience and understanding you have, the easier it is to parent!
🌸Why is fitness important to you? It instantly lifts my mood. If I don’t work out, everyone around me that days knows it . I’m a better mom when I feel healthy and strong!
🌸Favorite part of being a mom? Blasting gangster rap from my mainstream mommy minivan 👊🏼!
Now you love her too, right?? Allie thank you for just being you and being a constant beacon of light, love and strength in this village. We are so grateful for you and your family. #momcrushmonday #REALMOM
This Mom: Katie Magid
Mom to: Max (3.5 years old), Margot (4 months)
Member since: July 2017
Interesting fact about Katie, in her own words: I played college tennis for UC San Diego and was an instructor for kids' summer camps. It has been so fun to start teaching my son Max and playing with him.
Why Katie loves Stroller Strides and Body Back, in her own words: I feel so fortunate to have tried Stroller Strides when I moved to Davis. The instructors create a wonderfully fun and supportive environment and lead awesome workouts. I have never felt stronger than after completing Body Back last year and it definitely helped me feel prepared going into my second pregnancy while running after a toddler. My favorite thing about Stroller Strides and Body Back has been the community, advice, and inspiration I have gained from all of the other amazing moms (seriously, you all rock!). It has helped me not only laugh more during the stressful moments of being a mom, but has made me love, embrace, and appreciate the highs and lows of motherhood.
This Mom: Cristina Buss
Mom to: Adara (3.5 years old), Nash (1.5 years old)
Member since: March 2017
Interesting fact about Cristina, in her own words: My husband and I met in the nerd dorm (honors program) at UC Davis in 2001. Our nerdiness branched into playing ultimate frisbee, and my team won the national championship in 2004.
Why Cristina loves Body Back, in her own words: Body Back gives me time with inspiring moms who consistently prioritize their own health. I love the evening session because we talk "too much," and it's a great place to share mom-hood while also getting exercise AND not being on-duty for the bedtime routine! ;) Seeing other real women making good food choices, doing plank challenges, and taking care of themselves and their families is a great reminder that it CAN be done. I really value the community and realness.
This Mom: Jessica Corwin
Mom to: Emery (4), Ava (1.5)
Member since: January 2017
Interesting fact about Jessica, in her own words: I feel very fortunate to have a thriving career as a local dermatologist but also the flexibility to be available to my girls and family and think I am close to finding the elusive work-life balance (does that really exist?!). I love living in Davis and accessing all it has to offer- the local activities and community, but also taking advantage of the proximity to hiking in Marin, hiking in Tahoe, trips to the coast and heading out into the country for a run.
Why Jessica loves Fit4Mom Davis, in her own words: I love Stroller Strides and Body Back because it is such a welcoming community of moms who are focused on being outdoors with our kids, working towards our fitness goals together and supporting each other in this phase of motherhood. I love that there are so many options available to meet the needs of busy moms. Emily, Kristen and Christina are amazingly thoughtful in their workouts and approach to their promotion of all of our health. I just love it!

Fit4Mom Davis is holding a special donation-based Stroller Strides family class and potluck for one of our members, Allison (Allie) Olson, on Saturday, September 15th at 9:15am with a suggested donation of $30 per family. All proceeds from the class will go directly towards funding “June’s Journey Home”.
Allison Olson and her family have a passion for people with special needs. It all began with her brother, Andrew, who is developmentally delayed and continues to be a shining bright light in their lives today. While most newlyweds enjoy a year or two or three on their own, Allie and her husband welcomed two best friends with special needs to live with them to help foster a successful environment for independent living. They met these inspirational gentlemen when they began volunteering as the track and field coaches for Team Davis, a non-profit organization that helps enrich the lives of children and adults with developmental, intellectual or physical disabilities. They have continued as coaches for more than 10 years now. Three years ago, Allie’s sister and her husband adopted a 2-year-old from Bulgaria with Down Syndrome and now Allie and Rob are following in their loving footsteps by adopting June, a beautiful 7-year-old girl with Down Syndrome from China. International adoption has come with its challenges, including China issuing new rulings that have delayed the adoption process for well over two years now. Every step brought more paperwork, roadblocks, and of course more financial expenses. When asked why they chose a foreign adoption instead of a domestic one; Allie explained that the conditions at orphanages in China can be harrowing and children with special needs are evicted from Chinese orphanages as young as 14 to fend for themselves alone without any support or resources. Allie and Rob have the ability to provide a wonderful life for June in a loving home with their two sons, Rowan, 4, and Liam, 3.
The Olsons’ still have $15,000 left to raise before they head to China this fall to open their home and their hearts to June. This event for the Olsons’ is another example of how Our Village and local community support such a worthy family on their selfless journey to finally bring their daughter home.
RSVP for the event here.
This Mom: Elise Cobb
Mom to: Patrick (5), Valerie (3)
Member since: August 2017
Interesting fact about Elise, in her own words: I grew up playing soccer but turned into a runner later in life and once finished 11th in a New York City half marathon.
Why Elise loves Stroller Strides, in her own words: Now that I have kids, I don’t have time to run six miles a day for fun so Stroller Strides is a perfect way to get in a long workout with my kids. I also love the community that Stroller Strides provides - being surrounded by other mamas who are focused on their own health and wellness goals but still devoted to their kids. It really is an amazing village. Should I have more kids so I don’t have to leave?? (Kidding!!)
This Mom: Anais (Ana) Foley-Kennedy
Mom to: Jackson (2 years old)
Member since: September 2016
Interesting fact about Ana, in her own words: I'm a beauty junkie and yoga enthusiast—it’s all about balance, right? Currently enrolled in an Amba (Women’s Embodiment Yoga) Teacher Training, I am always looking for ways to share my passions with others; sometimes it’s teaching how to apply eyeliner or guiding someone to relax in Shavasana. I enjoy spending time gardening, exploring with my son & escaping to attend Fit4Mom Body Back classes with fellow mamas.
Why Ana loves Fit4Mom Davis, in her own words: Body Back/Strides has helped me regain my confidence, meet amazing women & squeeze into clothes pre bebe. I am ever grateful for all of you & of course Christina, Emily & Kristen. Cheers!

Interesting fact about Eve, in her own words: My husband and I set a goal of summiting the five tallest mountains in California after climbing the tallest, Mount Whitney (elevation: 14,505 feet, tallest mountain in the contiguous U.S.), having never hiked or climbed a “14er” before. Since then, we’ve summited White Mountain and Mount Shasta, and attempted the rugged and elusive Mount Williamson twice.
Why Eve loves Body Back, in her own words: I love that I’m able to workout while playing with and singing to my daughter. It’s such a rich community for moms and little ones.
"I absolutely love Stroller Strides! I love getting outside with other wonderful mommies and babies, and I feel so much stronger than I have in years! I'm so grateful to be part of this community." - Molly Desantis, mom to Stanley, Weldon and Parker
"Stroller Strides is a dream come true for me – I get to be active, outside, with my daughter, all while meeting other wonderful moms. It truly feels like a judgment free time, and I love the tradition of hanging out at the park after class." - Caitlin Boulware, mom to Andilyn and Lyric
"I honestly cannot say enough good things about Fit4Mom Davis! Stroller Strides is a wonderful way to bond with your children, build a community all while getting fit!" - Jessica Guerrieri, mom to Charlotte and Madeleine
"Stroller Strides with Emily is the best workout I've gotten since having my kids. I thought I was in decent shape because I run several days a week, but Emily kicked my butt from the very first class and I loved it! I keep coming back for more! I would highly recommend this class to any mommy!!" - Allison Olson, mom to Rowan and Liam
"I joined Stroller Strides as a way to get back into shape after the birth of my son. Not only am I now under my pre-pregnancy weight, but I'm developing muscle tone that I haven't seen since I was a high school athlete! I love that I get to work out with a wonderful group of smart, motivated, and supportive women, and I know I'm setting a good example for my son, too." - Devon Scheitrum, mom to Wolfgang and Gretchen
"Stroller Strides is a wonderful gift to the Davis area. It's a non-judgmental workout. My daughter who is 21 months just loves the days we go. It took her a while to open up but now she sings along to the songs we sing as we workout. She talks about stroller strides all the time. I am very grateful that I am setting a great example to her at an early age. She is starting to mimic stretches, lunges, tries to skip, push ups and such. I can't even put into words fully how this group has positively impacted my life." - Ashley Curtis, mom to Maya
"I love coming to Stroller Strides each week because there's a community of women who hold me accountable--if I had a gym membership, I'd never go or I'd get stuck doing the same weekly routine and seeing few results. Emily does a great job of diversifying the workouts. I'm in better shape than I was before I was pregnant and I have more fun exercising too. But I think the most rewarding part is watching my 22-month-old run around the house, yelling "Push-ups!" and "Jumping-jacks!" - Lindsey Douros, mom to Alida and Aurelia
"I love Stroller Strides because it’s efficient and effective. Exercise. check. Hawk gets to hang out with kids his age. check. I get to converse with other women. check. I feel like I've accomplished so much by 10am!" - Emilie Hamilton, mom to Harlow and Hawk
"On top of the fun, varied and HARD workouts, I love getting to hang out with other moms and get all of the benefits that come with a moms group- great advice, tips, and lots of laughs. On top of that, Lachlan gets some quality outdoor time and loves watching the older kids (and moms) play- he's always exhausted after class and takes a nice long nap so I can get some work done!" - Sara Kross, mom to Lachlan

Interesting fact about Kari, in her own words: I’m a NorCal native who earned a degree in Environmental Science and uses it while practicing law. I love the mountains and hiking with my husband (and kids), especially around Lake Tahoe.
